Mary Kathrine Leach was born on April 16, 1894 in Jackson County, Ohio to Henry Ward Beecher Leach and Jemima Theodocia Hawks. She married Charles Harold Smith (1896-1975) on January 28, 1921 in Ross, Ohio. She had three sons: Harold Dwight Smith (1922-1997), Fredrick Donald Smith (1929-), and Robert Adrian Smith (1931-2011).

Those pictured are sons-in-law, children and friends including Pauline Johnson; Essa Byrd’s family including Mary Katherine’s husband, Charles H. Smith, and her sons Robert Adrian Smith, Harold D. Smith and Frederick D. Smith.
