Creator

Biographical / Historical

The Outlook Club was founded in 1908 as a club for men to discuss recent events and topics of interest. The club was often made up of influential men in Kalamazoo, such Upjohn employee George Macleod, judge C.H. Mullen, and Kalamazoo Central High School principal Eugene Thomas. Once a month, the members would gather at a meeting place where one person would come up with a presentation or essay on a relevant topic and present. Following the presentation was usually a discussion of some kind. Aside from the about 30 full members, there are also a number of spots for honorary members, some of which moved out of Kalamazoo but wanted to keep in touch, or while the member slots were already filled. The Outlook Club does not release much public information, but continue to hold meetings.
