Berghoff Café Menu
Scope and Contents
The collection is composed of a menu card for Easter Dinner at the Berghoff Café in Kalamazoo, MI. This menu is from the Berghoff Café’s special Easter Dinner on April 19, 1908.
A raised illustration of white lilies is on the cover with a sonnet on the inside cover by the poet laureate of the Berghoff Hotel.

Biographical / Historical
The Berghoff Hotel and Café operated from 1908 to 1915. In newspapers of the time, citizens raved about the extravagant menu that fed 242 persons and became a record breaking dinner. The menu consists of many dishes from the time including baked trout, roast turkey, and braised calf sweetbreads.

The collection amounts to .10 cubic feet and is composed of one item. The menu card measures approximately 8.25” x 5.5”. The item is made of smooth, off-white card stock.
