The Portage First United Methodist Church was formerly known as the Portage United Methodist church. Around 2000, they adopted the concept of being the “lighthouse” church. This shows up in the newsletters.

This collection amounts to 1.5 cubic feet, and contains a wide range of documents. Most of these documents are monthly and weekly newsletters sent out from the church to all its members. Other documents include church directories from 1977 to 1999, miscellaneous pamphlets, correspondence, and some other forms of official church documents.
Most of the documents are in good condition. Some documents have been bent or folded, and a few of the newsletters have been torn.
