Voter's Guide, 1973
Scope and Contents
The guides contain a variety of information about the current elections, including information on candidates (like age, party, address, and general running platform), voter registration, polling places, proposed bills, and more. When electing candidates, the guides seem to try to get information from the candidates themselves in order to give them a platform to campaign. Candidates running for certain positions are asked the same question, listed... at the beginning of their section, with candidates’ answers following. Some candidates didn’t respond, and are listed as such. The guides from 2009 onwards also include links to other sources on candidates and the elections. The back cover of the 2009 guide has a single section translated into Spanish concerning the US 2010 Census, with information on how to complete a form and who needed to fill it out. The guides claim and attempt to present non-biased information about candidates and proposals. A brief table of contents is usually included on the back of the larger versions as well. Depending on the offices up for reelection, the length of the guides varies. The guide from 1959 also bears some handwritten notes, likely added after the election that disclose the results.
