Biography

Giles Buckingham Willcox was born on August 7th, 1826 in Manhattan, New York. He came from a religious family, a background that would provide the groundwork for much of his life. He attended various schools between the 1840s and early 1850s. From 1849 to 1850, he studied at Yale Divinity School and then transferred to Andover Theological Seminary to complete his training for the ministry. He graduated in 1851, and in 1853, his ordination took place at the Calvinistic Congregational Church in Fitchburg, Massachusetts.
