Biography
According to his Pen America, Saint James Harris Wood was a musician, writer, poet, and a native of California. He was part of the Gothic blues band, Saint James Catastrophe, until becoming involved with heroin and involvement in a California high desert penal colony where he reinvented himself as a writer of the darkly absurd. In 2009 March Street Press published Note Found in the Desert--the lost 50 poems of Saint James Harris Wood.

The collection is housed in 136 boxes (the first 135 labeled by Bixby himself) which document the creative output of March Street Press between 1992 until 2009. The bulk of the collection contains correspondence between the editor (Robert J. Bixby) and authors, manuscripts, proofs, copyright documents, photographs, cover art and ephemera. It also contains a complete run of the magazine, Parting Gifts, as well as copy of each book published by the press.
