Biography
Originally known as the American House, this hotel opened in 1844 on East Main Street, east of Pitcher Street. Over the years, the hotel physically grew and changed its name from the American House, American Hotel, Park-American Hotel and Harris Hotel. It remained in operation until 1968.

This collection is composed of menus and other ephemera from the American Hotel in Kalamazoo, Michigan and dating from approximately 1882-1898.
