Biography
Michigan Land Trustees, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, began in 1976 to revitalize rural and urban communiteis in Michigan by promoting responsible land use and the development of localized food and energy systems along with the stewardship of soil and land resources. In 1978, the organization acquired a farm and began a homesteading program affiliated with Western Michigan University where participants learned small scale organic farming and self-sufficiency skills. This program existed until 1984. The organization has been involved with community gardens, permaculture, and the Michigan Organic Food and Farm Alliance.
