Jacob Hampton Civil War Letter
The collection contains one letter dated November 13, 1864 by Civil War soldier Jacob Hampton (1847-1929) from Pavilion, Michigan while enlisted in the First Regiment Michigan Engineers and Mechanics and addressed to his sister while stationed in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In the letter, he discusses daily life and reports on Confederate troop movements.

The collection is composed of one book, Record of Service of Michigan Volunteers in the Civil War 1861-1865, volume 2, Second Michigan Infantry, published by Ihling Brothers & Everard Company, Kalamazoo, Michigan. There is no publication date although there is a letter inside the cover dated 1904.
