Scope and Contents This collection contains the letters of John C. Forbes, a Civil War veteran and native of Rome Township, Bradford County, PA. Forbes served successively with the 50th Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteers and 15th New York Engineers from September 9, 1861 until his second discharge in June 1865. A veteran of both the Siege of Fort Pulaski and the Battle of Sharpsburg/Antietam, Forbes’ service mainly involved the construction of fortifications, earthworks, or infrastructure projects....

Abstract

Papers of Msgr. Joseph Turk (1895-1951) including research notes, manuscript drafts, offprints, correspondence, newspaper clippings and postage stamps. The research papers and notes are concerned with the Cistercian Statuta and important figures in Cistercian history, such as Bernard of Clairvaux, William of St. Thierry and Stephen Harding. The newspaper clippings relate to mid-twentieth century politics in Yugoslavia.

Philip M. Farnsworth Diaries

Scope and Contents The first diary runs from 1854 to 1858. It appears Philip along with being a farmer worked in the lumber industry as he notes a day to day schedule of what he did, how long he did it and how much he was paid. That part of the diary goes from 1854 to 1856. In 1857 and 1858, Farnsworth covers his daily activities.The second and third diaries cover the period September, 1870 to December 2, 1870 and December 2, 1870 to August, 1871.
