Scope and Contents The diary was written by Rena Bestervelt Henshaw (1903-1988) who was married to John H. Henshaw (1902-1994.) They had three children: Fred, Linda and Margaret. They got married on November 26, 1926. John H. Henshaw worked as a draftsman from Brown Co. and was a carpenter once he retired in 1966. Richard Smith Diary

Scope and Contents During his time as soldier Richard Smith keep a diary of the last months of the Civil War in 1865. In the diary, Sargent Smith mostly discusses the weather, duties he performed on a daily basis, when and where his unit’s camp was moved, and briefly mentioned skirmishes with the rebel forces. This collection contains the diary of Robert Nielsen between the years of 1942 and 1946, recording his everyday life and routine during his time in high school. This routine included attending school during the week, and playing around and attending Sunday School on the weekends. This diary provided a record of the activities Robert did, giving insight on what growing up in the 1940s was like, rather than his thoughts or feelings about his life.
