Scope and Contents

According to information collected and placed in the donor file, the relationship between Numazu and Kalamazoo began in 1962. The first delegation from Kalamazoo went in 1963. These photographs are from the second visit of a delegation from Numazu. The relationship continues to exist as of 2010. The agenda for the 1964 visit is in the donor file and included a parade, various dinners and tours of the Kalamazoo Public Library, Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, Upjohn Corporate Headquarters and various schools.

Abstract

The collection is composed of 84 black-and-white photographs taken during the May 10-12, 1964 visit to Kalamazoo by the Numazu, Japan delegation.

Physical Description

The collection amounts to .50 cubic feet and is composed of 84 black-and-white photographs in a black non-adhesive photograph album 8 ¾”x10”. Some of the photographs are smaller and are mounted on heavy board. The photographs are not identified however they are in chronological order following the events of the three day visit. In the front of the album is a title page stating, "The Second Visit...Numazu, Japan Kalamazoo, Mich. May, 1964." The photographs are in good condition although they are slightly curled at the edges. The pages in the album are slightly yellowed but for the most part are stable.
