Biographical / Historical

The Barbershop Harmony Society was founded in Tulsa Oklahoma in 1938. The Mall City Harmonizers was then founded in 1941 and was one of the oldest chapters of the Barbershop Harmony Society and they are the Kalamazoo Chapter No. 13. The group is an all men’s group that sings in 4 part barbershop harmony. Within the larger group, smaller 4 person barbershop quartets have formed as well. They are a non-profit organization that sings in the greater Kalamazoo area. On their website they claim to sing American songs and perform musicals as a show choir. Members learn music on their own and they rehearse together once a week to perform at public and private events or anything else they may be hired to do, though they have had no shows since 2019.
