The collection is composed of 0.50 cubic feet and it composed of thirty-two diaries. There are a few entries that are missing, but the majority of the date ranges are from 1869-1914. The diaries range in various sizes from 3”x6” to 4”x7”.

The majority of the diaries are in good condition with the exception of the 1869 diary. The majority of the diaries are written in pencil and ink, all of the entries are legible, a few older diaries have entries that are beginning to fade but even those are still legible. The covers are also in good condition, many of the covers are titled “Excelsior Diary” which was a type of diary that included information like cash accounts, yearly calendar, postage information, and other information such as units of measurements and currency exchange info.

The 1869 diary is in poor condition: the cover appears to be wrapped in fabric and is shredded and many of the entries are faded and difficult to read.
