Scope and Contents

This collection consists of one ledger possibly from a local farmer in Kalamazoo County, Michigan. The range of the material is from 1888-1901. The ledger tracks farm expenses of the unnamed farmer, the farms of Frank Milham and Noah Bryant, and keeps track of a “wood account” which recorded lumber purchased by various individuals.

Physical Description

This collection is composed of one ledger possibly from a local farmer from Kalamazoo County, Michigan. The ledger consists of 433 pages however the first 30 pages appear to be missing. Not all pages within the ledger have been written in. The ledger is written in ink and is still legible. The size of the ledger is 15”x10”x2”.

Overall the condition is fair: a majority of the pages are stained near the bottom of the pages but all are still legible, the first 30 pages appear to be torn out. The cover of the ledger is in bad condition; the cover is hardbound, there is no title and no information regarding an author. The cover shows significant damage: the bottom of the cover is tearing, the spine cover is gone and the top of the spine cover is shredded.
