The collection is made up of documents related to Harold and Grace Upjohn Foundation of Kalamazoo Michigan from 1979 to the mid-2000s. The records consist of grant requests, foundation correspondence, member and trustee meeting minutes, and other miscellaneous documents.

Biographical / Historical
The Harold and Grace Upjohn Foundation was established by Grace Bray Upjohn (1887-1967) in 1958 in honor of her husband, William Harold Upjohn (1884-1928) and to this day, is still in operation. Grace Bray Upjohn directed that funds be used to care for the sick, aged and helpless, to promote education and to aid in the mental, moral, intellectual and physical improvement of needy individuals regardless of race, color, or creed.
The Foundation continues to support grants in the areas of human service, education, physical and mental health, the arts and the environment for the greater Kalamazoo area.

Originally, the collection arrived in binders and in no particular order. The collection has been reorganized into categories and placed into archive safe folders and acid free boxes.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
These records were deposited by the Harold and Grace Upjohn Foundation. The material in the collection was collected by Floyd Parks, a long-time member of the Foundation.
Physical Description
The collection amounts to 9.0 cubic feet. The majority of the documents are on standard printer paper 8” x 11” some of the documents are on different color paper but all writing is still legible. The majority of the documents are typed but some have been handwritten. The majority of the collection is in good condition with minimal tearing and fading.
