Biographical / Historical
The Dunwell Drug Company was founded in 1905 in Kalamazoo, Michigan by Stephen Hoyt Dunwell. The Company owned two drug stores located at 737 W. Main St. and 819 South West St. in Kalamazoo. S. Hoyt operated the business until 1916, when he enrolled in the army to fight in World War One. In 1917, S. Hoyt’s brother, Edgar Addison Dunwell took over the business until 1929. In 1930, Edgar’s son, Maurie Dunwell became owner and operated the business until it closed in 1970.

Physical Description
This collection contains one newsletter from the Dunwell Drug Company. It contains articles on Cinchona Tree Bark (“The Countess of Chinchon,”), the origins of St. Valentine’s Day, the uses of apples, and various others. It is in good condition.
