Kalamazoo Madrigal Society Collection

 Collection
Identifier: RH-A-3371

Scope and Contents

According to articles found in the Kalamazoo Gazette, the Kalamazoo Madrigal Society began in 1908. This program is from their annual May Music Festival and this one is from their third annual. The Chorus, which is listed, performed with the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra. The program includes information not only on the concert, but also a list of all performers and photographs of the First Presbyterian Church, both exterior and interior, with the Madrigal Society. There also are a number of advertisements from local businesses including Gilmore's, Kalamazoo Corset Company, and a number of other Kalamazoo companies. See the donor file for several Gazette articles on the Society. An article from October 1911 discussed the Madrigal Society combining with the Schubert Club but there is not future article covering if this was done or not.
