Scope and Contents
The Kalamazoo Robert Burns Society, or the Robert Burns Society of Kalamazoo, attracted a great number of people who had Scotch ancestry. It is now known exactly when this organization began although the first program in this collection comes from 1914. Articles in the Kalamazoo Gazette talk about activities that occurred throughout the year with this group including picnics and presentations. In 1916 two hundred and fifty people attended the banquet. The programs including information about the banquet program, officers of the group and even at times the menu for the evening. Also included are quotes and poems from Robert Burns. The event was held in a variety of locations including the New Burdick Hotel, the Pythian Temple, the Holland-American Aid Society and the Masonic Temple.
