Michiana Cello Society Exit Surveys, 1991-1993
Scope and Contents
The documents are dated from 1984-1997, some of the documents remain undated but they are from this period of time. The Michiana Cello Society was established in 1984 and was a group in which southern Michigan cello players could join to work together. The MCS ended up being disbanded in 1998. The bulk of the collection is comprised of correspondences, and newsletters. Another significant part of the collection is the MCS tax records, financial reports, and receipts. The MCS also organized annual festivals during its existence and there is documentation of each one of these festivals. More information can be found on these festivals by looking at Kalamazoo Gazette articles, a list of these can be found in the donor file. Another important contribution which the MCS made which is documented in the collection is the creation of the Herbert Butler Scholarship for those who want to continue to improve their musical talents.
