Scope and Contents A leaf from the Herball of John Gerard, a comprehensive medico-botanical treatise. Gerard was an English herbalist and surgeon who was born in the Sixteenth century. The first edition of this work was brought out in 1597. It was partly original, partly a compendium; the edition from which this leaf was taken was brought out in London, 1633 by Thomas Johnson.
