Bryant, Willard , 1862-
Biography
Willard Bryant was music dealer and publisher in the late 1800s through the early 1900s. He was born in Logansport, Indiana (Cass Co) on Nov. 28, 1862 to John and Mary L. (Smith) Bryant. He was educated in public schools of Hillsdale, Michigan, and by home study. He was married in Eaton Rapids, Mich, on Jan. 3, 1884 to Minnie J. Slade.
In 1882, he entered professional ranks as cornist. He became a teacher at the Detroit Conservatory of Music in 1891-95. He began in his own name, in 1897, as music dealer and manufacturer and importer of band instruments, in which has since continued. He also served as musician in Third and Fourth Regiments, Michigan National Guard. He was also a member of the Musicians' Protective and Benevolent Association, the Masonic order, Knights of Pythias, and Maccabees.
