Jacquelyn Vandaliah Simms was born September 9, 1942 to William E. Simms Jr. and Vandaliah Simms (nee Larkin) at St. Mark Methodist Church, New York. She was the god-daughter of Vernie Merze Tate.
According to the North Carolina, U.S., Marriage Records, 1741-2011, she married Angus Boaz Thompson Jr. on March 12, 1979. This was her second marriage; she was previously been married to one with the laste name of Whitfield.

An ivory-colored scrapbook containing letters from the Simm family to Merze Tate written between September 1942 to May 1950. Most letters were written by Ida Vandaliah (Larkin) Simms, an Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority member with Merze Tate, concerning Ida's daughter Jacquelyn (born September 9, 1942).
