Biography

Sam Stept (alias Sammy Stept) [also spelled Stapt] was a Jazz pianist and composer born in Odessa, Ukrain, on September 18, 1897. He and his family moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the age of three. He was a prolific composer of songs and occasionally wrote lyrics. He died on December 1, 1964.
