Campau, Edward J., 1916-2007
Edward J. Campau was born in Alto, Michigan in 1916, the son of Edward Brown Campau and Cecile Belle Bancroft. He attended Grand Rapids Junior College, Michigan State University, Stanford University, and the University of Wisconsin. He earned his doctorate degree in Economic Entomology from the University of Wisconsin. A veteran of the United States Army during World War II, having served three years in the 19th Malarial Survey Unit in Africa and Iran. After the war, he continued to work as an entomologist, working for both the Standard Oil Company and the Eli Lily Company before his death in 2007. Edward was a descendant of Louis Campau, pioneer and founder of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
