Biography

Clyde Vern Cory was born on December 26, 1889 in Georgetown, Ottawa County, Michigan, the son of Colman Cory and Mary Hughes Cory. Clyde married Marguerite (Molly) Bernice Bosworth (1893-1960) on June 20, 1917 in Georgetown, Michigan. Clyde was a part of a military band that played often for newly recruited soldiers and nurses in hospitals. He spent the majority of his enlisted time training in Camp Custer (now Fort Custer), Battle Creek, Michigan and Camp Mills, Long Island, New York. When overseas he served mostly in France in the areas of Mont-le-Vignoble, Domfront and Cosne (Cours-sur-Loire). After the war Clyde worked as a bookkeeper at a hardware store. He died on February 20, 1976.
