Biography
Joseph Schensul attended Kalamazoo College and developed an interest in the restaurant industry leading him to open several businesses including Sweetheart Shop (1920), Brown & Gold (1922), Club Hollywood, and Schensul Cafeteria (1938) which he eventually expanded to include eleven Schensul cafeterias in Michigan and Indiana by 1974. Joseph Schensul included his family in his businesses making his brother Irving Schensul the manager of the original Kalamazoo location, and having his children work in the location as well.

Scope and Contents
This collection is composed of a single menu printed approximately 1945 from Club Hollywood located at 329 Portage St. Kalamazoo Michigan.The outside of the menu includes the name of the restaurant as well as the words “Southern Michigan’s Smartest Dine and Dance Rendezvous” with menu and a small graphic underneath depicting a man and woman drinking and smoking. The cover is beige with black type and the top right and bottom left corners have the edges cut off deliberately....
