Osborn, Gerald, 1903-1973
Biography
Gerald Osborn was an acting president of Western Michigan University i 1960 and former St. Johns resident. In 1956 he was appointed dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences. After he completed his term as interim president he returned to his duties as dean.
He was a Fullbright lecturer and consultant at 2 universities in Manila, the Philippines in 1962-63.
After returning to WMU, he accepted an appointment at Alice Lloyd College, Pippa Passes, in 1969 as head of the chemistry department and assistant to the academic dean. He also helped coordinate the construction of a new science building.
Dr. Osborn was former president of the Michigan College Association, past president of the Kalamazoo Kiwanis Club and a former Kiwanis district lieutenant governor.
