Biography

One of Kalamazoo's oldest music organizations, the Kalamazoo Bach Festival was was founded in 1946 by Henry Overley, a professor of Music at Kalamazoo College, Kalamazoo, Michigan. Overley wanted to bring the town together to experience the joy of music by recreating the instrumental music and choral of J.S. Bach and his contemporaries. Since its first season in 1947, the Festival's repertoire has expanded to include not only the music by Bach but also nineteenth- and twentieth-century composers.
